The banana plant is the largest herbaceous flowering plant originating from South East Asia. It is now native in several locations including South America. Bananas, which are technically berries, are one of the favorite fruits of the United States. The fruit grows in a large hanging cluster, or a bunch, with up to 20 bananas to a tier. These bunches can be anywhere from 3 to 20 tiers and can weigh up to 50 kilograms, or 110 lbs.
