A thick, woody vine, condurango grows high in the Andes in Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, or an elevation of 3,000 meters. Condurango can grow as long as 30 feet and about 2 feet in diameter. Condurango also produces leaves in shape of hearts and brown flowers. It was introduced to the United States in the 19th Century by the Minister of Ecuador as a miracle ingredient for the stomach.
